Description
Espace San Bernardo is a sprawling ski area located in the Savoie region of France and the Aosta Valley in Italy. It encompasses the resorts of La Rosière in France and La Thuile in Italy, offering an expansive and diverse skiing experience. With the majority of the slopes above 2000m, the snow conditions come with a good gaurante. The ski area is known for its sunny weather, making it particularly appealing for those seeking bluebird days on the slopes. The resort also offers a range of off-piste opportunities for more adventurous skiers.
La Rosière is a purpose-built ski resort that was established in the 1960s. It was designed with skiing in mind and offers convenient access to the slopes. The village has a modern feel, with a range of accommodations, restaurants, and amenities to cater to visitors. The ski area is directly accessible from the village, and it's the better choice for those with beginners as there's more green and blues connected close to resort level.
La Thuile, on the other hand, has a more traditional village atmosphere. It dates back to the Roman era and has preserved its historical charm. The village features quaint cobblestone streets, traditional stone buildings, and a welcoming ambiance. Converse to La Rosiere, it's return runs are red and black.
Après-ski in Espace San Bernardo is varied and caters to different preferences.
La Rosière offers a vibrant nightlife scene with lively bars and restaurants where visitors can unwind after a day on the slopes.
La Thuile, on the other hand, offers a more relaxed après-ski atmosphere, with cozy mountain huts and traditional Italian eateries providing a warm and inviting ambiance.
In terms of ski-in/ski-out access, La Rosière offers better options, with several accommodations providing direct access to the slopes.
In La Thuile, while it is possible to ski back to the village, it is not as prevalent as in La Rosière.
Overall, Espace San Bernardo provides a fantastic ski experience with its extensive slopes, international flair, and a mix of modern and traditional alpine atmospheres. It is an excellent choice for skiers of all levels looking to explore the French-Italian border and enjoy a memorable winter holiday.
