We'll be in touch FAQ - Snow Centre Events Am I allowed in this space? "Queer" is an umbrella term that we respect and use because language is limited, but we are narrowing it down for our social We are reserving this as a space for less well served groups in the LGBTQIA+ community As we are such a diverse alphabet mafia, it's easier to define who this event is not for: No cis-men (of any sexuality) No cis-het women No TERFs or SWERFs If you have any doubts that you are welcome, please contact us via the details given above. We can help coordinate shared taxis closer to the time to save everyone time and money. Car Share When we confirm attendance and dates, we'll be able to coordinate car shares if anyone is driving Trains What do I need to bring? Reach out to your friends, you never know who's got some gear The organisers will also have a limited number of jackets, trousers, socks & gloves available for those that need to save some extra cash. Accessibility & Fitness For the able bodied, skiing & snowboarding require a baseline level of physical readiness. You don't need to be a sports-queer or fitness freak, but you do need to bear in mind you'll be working your legs and core especially. Put it this way - you'll be in a constant semi-squat. You need to have reasonable knee and ankle flexion. If you have any condition that impacts the level of physical exertion you're able to sustain, please consult a medical professional If you have a disability please consult disability snow sport UK for the impact on you and any adaptive measures available to you https://www.disabilitysnowsport.org.uk/ Reach out to us and we can coordinate with the snow centre to see if these are possible at the same time as the social. You are 100% responsible for assessing whether you're fit to take part. Who's organising? Hey! I'm Vic A non-binary, trans masc human who's addicted to snowsports. I want all queer people to have the opportunity to experience the freedom and fun of skiing and snowboarding without being intimidated by the cis het, Tory stereotypes. (I also just want more adventure friends) It's important for me to use what little platform I can build to be visible and 100% myself, so queers and other minority groups can see that there's space for us, we exist and the world of skiing is open to everyone (who can afford it). Snowclans Inclusion policy What is Snowclans? Snowclans started as a passion project in lockdown, creating a database of all the holiday options for skiers & snowboarders who had no one to ride with: From organised solo chalets to adventure tours with guides. From there in 2022/23 I expanded it into a community + introduced social holiday options promoting shared chalets. The community ethos has always been inclusivity. I have a passion, stubbornness and privilege that has meant I am happy to enter spaces where I will very likely be an outlier, I recognise that it can be intimidating for many and want to create a safer space for them, ideally meeting people who share some common experience. Who knows what the 2023/24 season will bring. Whilst interest in this community is not unsubstantial, creating engagement amongst members has been a challenge. I will still in some way be here educating, connecting and inspiring.

  • Story | Snowclans

The Full Story SnowClans Why build SnowClans? There's no one out there doing this Researching any solo ski options is incredibly time consuming and often frustrating, with large companies paying lip-service to solo travel on one page of a website, but providing no easily navigable options to look at. Ski Chalets are the ultimate in luxury, social experience but sole occupancy is the default for all the major sites, this luxury is most accessible for those with the luck and patience to organise a large group, especially with large tour operators dropping their shared catered chalets post-pandemic. That's without even considering the first step where you tried and failed to find people to plan with. So that's 2 Barriers to getting on the slopes: People + Planning The industry is relying on the low hanging fruit to support itself and neglecting the passionate individuals who want to participate too. There's no other place that aggregates holidays and instructional trips suitable for individuals to join. There's no well designed place for Chalets to open up their bookings to a room by room or person by person basis and promote to a receptive audience. The SnowClans Solution Helping both the holiday maker & the industry Social - Community of members on the look out for Ride Buddies bound by the inclusion policy of don't be a tw*t. Courses & Trips - Listings of all the Social Trips & Guided/instructional holidays suitable for individuals in one place Shared Chalets - Providing a user friendly platform where accommodation providers can advertise themselves, with individuals in mind. Covering the 2 Barriers: People - By providing a platform to connect as well as search for 3rd party options with groups Planning - By aggregating the options for holidays and accomodation in 1 place to easily search and filter with true per person pricing Data driven service We wanted to give a voice to the consumer & prove that there's passionate people out there who want to enjoy a social ski holiday Submit your desired holiday We accumulate all the data on where & when people want a chalet We have this to share with the industry We match people to the chalet deals we get Who we are I'm a massive Ski Nut, I have been since I was a child. "Luckily for me I grew up skiing with my family, but when I graduated university and (kind of) grew out of family holidays, I struggled to find a reliable group of people to go skiing with. As it's such an important part of my year I like to plan ahead, and often gave up and resigned myself to going on my own so I didn't miss out. Whilst I love the snow enough to travel alone, it's not quite as fun, and that too came with a lot of challenges." The massive Ski Nut, is Vic, the Founder. A Neuroscientist by training, an Insight consultant by trade and now a CEO by passion. Ski of choice Nordica Santa Ana 93 "Commit to nothing, ski everything" Favourite Resort Serfaus - Fiss - Ladis Amazing selection of terrain for advanced skiers both on an off piste Après Beverage Beer, can't go wrong Vic is a Non-Binary, trans masculine human. The core values of Snowclans are inclusion and authenticity, this is why Snowclans is a proudly and openly LGBTQIA+ owned and ran business. You might think this has absolutely no relevance to a business, and we agree, however unfortunately some people still feel the need to make it known that they don't like or understand your existence despite absolutely no one asking them. Therefore, it's important for us to use what little platform we have to be visible and 100% ourselves, so other minorities can see that we exist and the world of skiing is open to everyone. Inclusion policy

  • Under 30s Solo Ski Holidays | Snowclans

Solo ski holidays for under 30s - all you need to find, or plan a solo ski holiday in your 20s. Browse providers, get advice and find your perfect resort. Under 30s solo ski holidays Providing Everything You Need to get out onto the slopes Are you in your 20s and considering a solo ski holiday? Don't worry, we've got your back! Snowclans is dedicated to solo's holidays. We will address our recommended brands, how to overcome key concerns and provide tips on building your ideal holiday. So, grab your ski gear and get ready for an exciting adventure that will create memories for a lifetime! Age is just a number One common concern among young solo travelers is being the youngest person in the group when there's no age limits. The fear of not fitting in or feeling left out can be daunting. However, it's important to remember that age is just a number! I've been skiing since my early 20s on various group holidays and I have to say you'll be surprised to discover that age barriers quickly fade away when you connect over a shared passion for skiing. I've met some truly fascinating people from all walks of life that I would have never interacted with in my day to day. You don't need a specific week Brands That Work for You There are several specific solo ski brands that cater specifically to the younger age groups Chalet Skade Contiki Ski Other options Hostels get a bad rep from Old people and Introverts, but the stereotype has moved on quite a bit from the tired and dirty units of the past. They're actually a fantastic way to meet people for a solo holiday. If you struggle with social integration, you can almost always find some organised events and there's always an Extrovert on hand to adopt you. Even if you don't put yourself out there, the communal atmosphere is great for topping up even the most sensitive of social batteries.
