Switzerland Switzerland really needs no introduction. Swiss hospitality is one of the best in the world, and their attention to detail doesn't stop at the hotel lobby. Immaculate pistes, dramatic views, world famous resorts at every turn. We must admit the cost can be steep in comparison to other countries, but the experience is worth it. - Ski holidays in Grandvalira
Grandvalira Andorra Europe Heart Classics Memoirs Historical Fiction Novels Mysteries Comedy Pas de la Casa Grau Roig Soldeu El Tarter Canillo Encamp Km piste Min Height (m) Max Height (m) 210 1710 2640 Sub Area Multi-Area Collection No No Description Located in the heart of the Pyrenees, Grandvalira is one of the largest ski areas in the world and is situated in the tiny country of Andorra. Take advantage of the incredible value of tax-free Andorra, where prices are significantly lower than in the Alps, and possibly even lower than in the rest of the Pyrenees. Grandvalira was formed by the merging of two separate ski areas, Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig and Soldeu-El Tarter, in 2003. The resort has since expanded and developed into a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts. It offers a modern and efficient infrastructure, including state-of-the-art lifts and facilities. The ski area is well connected with numerous access points throughout - There's 7 different sectors to choose from. Après ski Pas de la Casa and to a lesser extent Soldeu are the resorts to choose for a party at the end of the day. Skiing This is very much a beginners and intermediates resort, half the piste map is blue, and the blacks are considered easy by wider European standards. This is not to say it's boring, the size and diversity of slopes and connections across the area make it a great option to explore. When powder day comes, this also means a lot of easily accessible terrain off piste. Key Resort Differentiators Pas de la Casa Younger focus Lively apres selection Not the best looking resort Cheaper end of the scale - purpose built dominates Soldeu Busy main road - not the most family friendly Lively atmosphere Not a huge selection of off-ski alternative activities El Tarter Most accommodation is within easy distance of the slopes Good resturant selection More subdued apres When it comes to quick access to the focus of the ski area, Camillo and Encamp are slighly further removed. Camillo has it's own small sector of runs Including a great kids/ families area Great for those who want a quiet holiday Encamp Has no return ski runs The "Funicamp" gondola takes you all the way up to the top of the ski area in 15min. First resort you encounter on the way from Spain However, the total from end to end Encamp to Pas de la Casa is a 20min ski bus Related Areas Pass prices Piste Map Transfer details (Airports, trains, shared options) Resort information Local tips Accommodation recommendations VIEW ALL piste map Ski Pass 6 day pass Euro / km 316 1.5 The ski pass actually includes 303km, the whole of Andorra. Schladming -Dachstein Austria Europe Heart Classics Memoirs Historical Fiction Novels Mysteries Comedy Schladming Pichl Geilming Km piste Min Height (m) Max Height (m) 123 728 2015 Sub Area Multi-Area Collection No No Description Schladming-Dachstein is a renowned ski area located in the Styria region of Austria, pretty famous for it's downhill. The area is spread across 4 different mountains, Schladming sits in the middle, making it the best option to access the whole area. Pichl and Gleiming sit on one side, Haus/ennstal on the other. This central belt is a total of 123km of connected slopes - this is surrounded by a lot of other much smaller ski areas that add the other 110km. The majority of the area is intermediate - centric, with tree lined pistes in the majority. Rohrmoos is a plateau where the beginners ski area is, so get yourself a good location if you have some in your group. It is relevant to note that the altitude at this resort is very low - maxing out at 2000m, meaning you should monitor snow conditions carefully. The town of Schladming itself offers a mix of modern amenities and a cozy, alpine atmosphere, with traditional Austrian architecture as any good Medieval town has. One of the highlights of Schladming-Dachstein is the après-ski scene. The resort offers a vibrant and lively atmosphere after a day on the slopes, especially in the car free centre of Schladming. Skiers can enjoy a range of bars, restaurants, and cafes where they can relax and socialize. The popular Planai-Hochwurzen area is particularly known for its après-ski options , with lively bars and outdoor terraces where skiers can unwind and enjoy live music.
