Le Grand Domaine France Europe Heart Classics Memoirs Historical Fiction Novels Mysteries Comedy Valmorel Doucy Celliers St François Longchamp Km piste Min Height (m) Max Height (m) 165 1250 2403 Sub Area Multi-Area Collection No No Description Le Grand Domaine is a popular ski area for British families. It is situated in the Tarentaise Valley, close to Moutier and the gateway to the 3 valleys. It encompasses the ski resorts of Valmorel and Saint-François-Longchamp. With its vast ski terrain and stunning alpine scenery, Le Grand Domaine attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Valmorel , one of the resorts within Le Grand Domaine, is a traditional village-style ski resort. It is known for its charming architecture and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The village was purposefully built to blend in with the surrounding mountain environment, featuring wooden chalets and stone buildings. Valmorel offers convenient ski-in/ski-out access, allowing visitors to hit the slopes directly from the village. Saint-François-Longchamp, the other resort within Le Grand Domaine, is a purpose-built ski resort located on the opposite side of the ski area. It offers a more modern and lively atmosphere compared to Valmorel. The resort features a range of accommodations, restaurants, and après-ski options. The ski area is easily accessible from the resort, and visitors can enjoy a good variety of ski runs, the bowl at the end of the valley it sits in offers a good selection especially for beginners needing green and blue slopes. Le Grand Domaine is suitable for a wide range of skiers and snowboarders. Valmorel's beginner-friendly slopes and gentle terrain make it an ideal destination for families and beginners. Intermediate skiers will find plenty of enjoyable runs to explore in both resorts. Advanced skiers can challenge themselves on the more demanding slopes, but they are in the minority here. In terms of après-ski, both Valmorel and Saint-François-Longchamp offer a selection of bars, restaurants, and entertainment options. Valmorel has a more relaxed and cozy après-ski scene, with traditional mountain-style establishments. Saint-François-Longchamp has a livelier atmosphere, with bars and clubs where visitors can socialize and unwind after a day on the slopes.
