Courchevel is a collection of distinct villages of different atmospheres, but it's known for its luxury and sophistication. Courchevel 1850, the highest and most famous of the villages, features high-end accommodations and upscale boutiques. The ski area in Courchevel offers varied terrain, catering to all skill levels, but it's particuarlly well known for its huge wide runs to cruise down in the village. Meribel is a picturesque alpine town characterized by its traditional Savoyard architecture and vibrant après-ski scene. Saint Martin de Belleville sits at the bottom of the Val Thorens valley, built around an old town it's got a more traditional feel than the rest of the resorts in the valley.
