Relax around the roaring log fire as you enjoy your freshly prepared afternoon tea and later move on to the separate dining room where your hosts will provide you with satisfying four-course dinners. There’s also small snug with comfy seating and a TV; a great second play area for children or perhaps a hideaway for adults to escape to, to watch a big game! Spectacular balcony views over Montriond and towards Morzine centre Outdoor hot tub Lounge area with superb open (or closed) log fire Secure ground level ski and boot storage room Cosy separate TV snug Six bedrooms can be configured as super kings or twins and the seventh room is a triple/family room. All rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and have en suite facilities. The bedrooms are located on the ground and second floors, with the main living area on the first floor. The spacious lounge is on the first floor with large comfortable sofas surrounding a traditional roaring fire. At the other end of the lounge is the bar and big screen TV, where you can curl up and enjoy a film in the evening. Floor to ceiling windows make the space really bright and airy and give fantastic views across Morzine. The large south-facing balcony is accessed from the lounge and because it is south facing, the perfect sun trap during those sunny winter days. There is a separate dining area that leads onto the balcony overlooking the outdoor hot tub. Finally, the cosy TV snug and the ground floor secure ski and boot room. Obertauern dates back to the 1960s when it was purpose-built as a winter sports destination. The development itself sits at an elevation of around 1,740 m and it's spread along a stretch of main road, without necessarily a clear "centre". The 'town' is consisting mainly of larger developments of hotel or apartment buildings, most maintain the traditional "chalet" style design than the block towers of puropse built France. Due to it's design, a lot sit on the snow front offering ski in/ski out or near abouts. The majority of skiing would suit those who are into more relaxed pursuits, with practically no challenging slopes. The lift system has had heavy investment so it's all fast and well maintained. It's aspect and altitude give it a very reliable snow record. At the end of the day, despite its size there's a healthy apres ski scene. There are multiple points of access to either side of the valley along its length, including some right on the outskirts that are suitable for people driving in from elsewhere. The village of La Tania is just a short walk and so you can easily access the bars and shops. Very centrally situated for the village, gondola and ski school meeting places in La Tania, Chalet Matisse Bas is a snowball’s throw from the piste. Chalet Matisse Bas sleeps 8 guests in the four bedrooms (3 twins and 1 twin/double) which all have en-suite bathrooms. With comfortable sofas and large windows, the dining and sitting area in Chalet Matisse Bas is a lovely open room with a sunny terrace. In the evenings, it’s a real treat to put your feet up in front of the fire before dining. The three twin rooms have bathrooms, with the twin/double having an en-suite shower room and separate WC.
